Never Ending Story ...

Man, those Zorkians are a bunch of conniving little thieves. Just because I've been here on Earth the past couple of month and haven't really had the time to service the loan for my space mansion back of Planet Zork, those bums are now thinking of repossessing my space mansion. Can you believe that? Can they actually do that? I though you could only repossess cars and space ships ... and urrrmmmm, talking about spaceship, I think they're going to repossess that soon ... LOL!

Jokes aside though, I was just going through my list of commitments and loans that I currently have and discovered the biggest commitment right now that I have and can't do anything about which is eating up a big chunk of my finances is my uncompleted and currently stalled apartment project. Even though it's stalled with no sign of it being revived just yet, I still have to actually service the interest for it! And it's not cheap, mind you. What with all the other expenses that I have on my plate, paying for an empty skeleton of an apartment doesn't actually help with the finances.

Maybe I should consider one of those Homeowner Loans and see if I can like consolidate all my debts into one main package. It might make things easier to manage. At least I won't have to go plundering around the galaxy and blasting moronic Zorkian bugs just to pay my loans. What do you think?

The Force Is Strong With This One!

Remember last year I posted something about a barbecue session I had at my buddy's place and how we had major problems just trying to get the fire burning? Well, today while I was browsing around the internet, I came across this wonderful gadget that would come in handy for us the next time we organize another barbecue session.

It's called the 60 second charcoal starter from Hammacher. It works on the concept of hot air being heated up to nearly 1300 degrees Fahrenheit. All you need to do is bury the light saber looking device into the briquettes and wait for it to spark. Simple as that. Now at least we won't look like doofuses while trying to light a barbecue pit. And it's cool looking too :)

I Have A Confession ...

I think most of you know I'm a game addict, right? Yes, us spacemen love our games too, after all how do you think I polish my ship flying skills to avoid all those nasty Zorkians ... LOL. Most of the time, the genre of games that I normally play are more of the real time strategy and simulation kinds and they all have to do with building armies and blasting up people and things.

Ok, now, as much as it my ruin may carefully built up macho spaceman image but of late I've actually been sneaking around playing one of Mrs. Spiff's favourite all time games. And it's called Diner Dash! Yes, folks, Diner Dash! Shhhhhh! Don't say that out too loud now. You know how that'll make me look if the Zorkians discovered I was playing a game like Diner Dash. My reputation throughout the galaxy would be ruined! Let's just keep this between you and me, ok? You promise now, ya? I'm going to hold you to that, ok!

I've been watching Mrs. Spiff play Diner Dash since it first came out on Play First, that leading publisher of casual downloadable games. She's actually purchased and played the whole series of Diner Dash right up to it's latest release called Diner Dash: Hometown Hero. And she's very fanatical about it. Once she starts playing it, she just won't stop until she's completed whatever levels that needs to be completed and then some. I used to think she was over doing it a little until I tried it out for myself a few days ago and now, let me tell you, I just can't get enough of being 'Flo' and serving all my customers.

Ok, before I go over board here, let me tell you a little about the game for those who've never played it before or wondering just what in heavens name am I talking about now. Diner Dash in general is about this little lady called Flo who is the heroine in the game who runs her own restaurant. And she finds out it isn't easy running a restaurant and having to serve noisy teenagers, impatient celebrities and a tough food critic, players will be kept on the top of their tip-seeking toes!

In the latest installment of the game,
Diner Dash: Hometown Hero, Flo quits her desk job and heads back to her hometown to help her grandma revitalize some of her favourite hangouts like the zoo, the ballpark, the museum and amusement park which are all sadly rundown. Trust me, this game is loads of fun. It isn't easy keeping track of what all your customers wants and it can be frantic to the point of going crazy and you just can't stop playing. I know I can't!

'Ok, you can quit laughing already! Don't make me come there and blast you with my ray gun, ok?'

If you don't believe how addictive the game is then by all means you go download it and try it for yourself and if you end up spending hours just trying to satisfy some of those annoying customers Flo gets, don't blame me ok, blame Play First for offering such an addictive game ... LOL! Catch you guys later, I'm off to start a new level of
Diner Dash :)

Just Another Boring Saturday.

Man, it's been one hell of a hot day today. I don't remember seeing the rain for the past few days. It's really been a blistering day. Well, at least it was good for the laundry cos the clothes didn't take all that long to dry. At least something good came out of it. I'm hoping it'll rain sometime soon cos it's also been a little hazy the past couple of days too. I'm probably going to need some air purifiers soon seeing as how the air quality is getting from bad to extremely worse.

Didn't have much planned for today except going out for lunch. Both Mrs. Spiff and me were just too lazy to cook lunch today so we decided to head out to the mall and grab something at our favourite all you can eat restaurant. The kids, well me actually, just love that place :D The food's good and the price is worthwhile and best of all you can eat all you want until you're stuffed silly. Now that's what I call getting my moneys worth!

This is going to be a pretty short post cos I really have nothing much to add about today. It's just been a very typically boring Saturday so far. I'm going to just surf some sites and blog hop a little while waiting for one of my favourite shows that I never fail to catch every Saturday night at 10.00pm called The Unit. I've still got about 2 hours to wait though. Anyways, you guys have a great Saturday now you hear?

I Want A Garage!

Everytime I watch TV and see all those American homes with their nice little garages attached to the side of their houses, I get a little envious and wish we had such things here. I've always loved those garages where you could park your car inside and keep all my tools that I've collected over the years and maybe even work in there doing some handy work.

Unfortunately, while most of the houses here have porches and all to park our cars under but that's about all you can do with it. You can't really keep your tools there cos it's exposed and you don't want to wake up in the morning and find all your expensive power tools gone now do you? That's why a garage would be just dandy for stuff like this.

I suppose if I had some space to spare around my house, I could always construct one using those Lidget sectional Concrete Garages that I read about online. I can get them to custom build one to the side of my house or something and then I'd have a real garage to play urrmmmmm, I mean work in :D I wonder if they do like deliver it here cos unfortunately for me, they're in the UK and I don't think they would deliver this faraway and even if they did, it just wouldn't be cheap now would it?

I guess unless I can find a local supplier, I'm just going to have to keep on envying all those people I see on TV who have such nice garages attached to their houses! Sighhhh ...

Not Again!

Mrs. Spiff just called me and informed me the PC which my computer guy fixed yesterday all of a sudden has started to beep like an ambulance intermittently. She said she was in the midst of playing a game and all of a sudden she got the shock of her life when the system started beeping.

Even before calling my computer guy, I'm suspecting it's the graphics card that's causing that problem. I opened the system once before and noticed the fan on the graphics card has stopped and I think it heats up when too there's heavy graphic usage and I guess that's where the problem lies. And true enough, after calling my computer guy, he said he noticed the fan wasn't working too.

Duh! If it wasn't working why didn't you like source a new fan or at least change the damn graphics card! Oh boy, I really hate when these things happen. Anyway, I gave him a little piece of my mind and told him to source a fan for me and if that is not possible, then to get a new graphics card. I'd prefer the first option though cos that is the much cheaper option.

Anyway, I really hope nothing else will crop up. Crap like this never fails to happen to me. I must have really pissed somebody up there badly!

My Little Island In The Sun.

I've been sitting for the second half of the day doing nothing much but just surfing the net for stuff. I told Mrs. Spiff I'd download a few games for her but haven't really been getting around to doing that. Since I'm a little free I thought I'd do it for her now.

But those games takes quite a while to download and here I am back with nothing really much to do. I've done my blog hop for the day, well, I'll do another round a little later in the day but for now, all my blogging needs have been taken care already.

With all my neighbourly problems that I've been facing, I'm really thinking about moving out of the current place that I'm living in. A few years back I purchased an apartment not too far from where I'm currently living. It was in the midst of being built and as bad luck would have it, the project stalled and the place isn't ready and I'm stuck here until god knows when! Siggghhh ...

But the thing is, if and when that apartment is ready, I'm probably going to sell the place and maybe get a place somewhere else. I'm not too keen about staying in an apartment anymore. I kinda like a place with a garden and all that. I'd probably need to find someone offering good Mortgages or something like that. I'm really not any good with these housing loans and mortgage stuff. I wouldn't know a good deal even if came and bit me on the nose!

With all the differing opinions I hear being expressed out there by the various experts in the mortgage industry, I think most homeowners would be utterly confused over which mortgage to choose from. I mean, take this research that was done by Abbey Mortgages recently. According to their research, two thirds of homeowners would have difficulties in choosing a mortgage if they were made to decide on one tomorrow! I would definitely fall into this category of people.

Well, nobody said owning a home or wanting to own a home was easy. Maybe I should just pack it up, head out to nice secluded island or something and start building my own little island getaway. Just me, Mrs. Spiff and the 2 boys. Maybe a bunch of monkeys as neighbours. They'd probably be better than the current ones that I have! Now, if only I knew of such an island. Anyone got one to spare?

Could Be This, Could Be That ...

Yay, my PC is fixed again. The computer guy just left and apparently he didn't need to reformat the darn thing. I don't know what he did but he got it running again so at least I won't have to down load all the softwares again. It can be such a pain to download them and then re-install them all over again.

The weird thing is I asked him what was wrong and all he did was shake his shoulders and say:

'No idea la, could be this or could be that.'

Oh right, that explains it. I knew it was cos of this or that. Man, he sure is a BIG help! At least now I know I shouldn't have done this or that. Whoa, I'm so much smarter now ... LOL! Ok, ok, I shouldn't be so sarcastic, after all he did get the PC working again, right. But I wish he would be a little more specific with what was wrong with it so I don't do the same thing again to screw up the system.

Mailbox Thief!

I was just a few minutes ago complaining about my senile old hag of a neighbour in my other blog Anything Goes! Hey, don't look at me, that Nick fellow came up with that degrading name. I don't call little old ladies bad names unlike him :D Just head there if you wanna know just what I was complaining about cos I don't want to repeat it here

But all that complaining reminded me of another thing that pisses me off about that neighbour. They have this daughter with a slight mental problem. She's an adult and all but acts and behave like a little kid. I've no issues with that, in fact I even sympathize with it. But the thing is, she's a thief. A mailbox thief to be exact.

'What in heaven's name are you blabbering about now, Spiff?'

Well, this daughter of hers goes around to the neighbours residential mailboxes and takes whatever is inside for herself. I'm not really sure what she does with the stuff she takes but I am not liking it one bit. It was Mrs. Spiff who told me this cos one day when she was hanging the laundry outside, the postman came by and left some mail for us in our mailbox and also the mailboxes of the other neighbours.

And all of a sudden, Mrs. Spiff says the senile old hags daughter runs out of the house and starts to rummage through the neighbours mailboxes and takes whatever she finds in there. And then she runs back to her house with her loot. Luckily Mrs. Spiff grabs all the mail in our mail box before she can get to it and stands there in shock for a few minutes. What she just did can be considered a crime for stealing people's mail and stuff.

While I know she is not responsible for her actions because of her condition but she did take all the mail into her house and don't tell me that senile old hag mother of hers didn't notice it was not their mail. But knowing the stinking attitude that she has, she probably doesn't give two hoots about it. I wonder how long she has been doing this. I'm sure she has been doing this for quite a while now and Mrs. Spiff only noticed this recently.

I don't really know how much of important mail I've lost. Who knows, I could have even lost that all important letter telling me that I've inherited $2 billion dollars from a long lost relative and that I have to claim in in 2 days or the money's gone. Damn her, I could be a billionaire by now for all you know! LOL! But jokes aside, I think it's a serious offense what she's doing and the next time I see it with my own eyes, I'm going to get my ray gun and blast her to oblivion, urmmm, what I really mean is I'm going to make a big fuss about it ... hehehe ...

Thank god there are no commercial mailboxes around the neighbourhood or else no one will be getting any of their letters and bills too. But I seriously wonder what she does with all the mail and stuff she takes. Maybe she collects them and sells it to the 'old newspaper' man who buys paper for recycling purposes? God in heaven only knows.

Blogging Set Back

I mentioned yesterday in my other blog Anything Goes! that I sent my PC to be reformatted and my computer guy sent it to my office yesterday and we tested it out before I took it home in the evening. It worked just fine in the office. I even managed to download my favourite softwares and browsers like Firefox, tweak, object dock and the like.

Then when I took it home and switched it on, the damn thing just kept restarting continuously. Oh man, that was not good and no matter how much I fiddled with it, it just kept doing the same thing. Damn, I hate when things like this happens, especially when you just got the damn thing fixed and it was working just fine 30 minutes ago. Mrs. Spiff said maybe I shook it up too much on the way home in the car, but I doubt it.

I called my computer guy again and he said maybe I downloaded something and corrupted the system again. Urrmmm, hello, it's all the same blooming softwares that I have my laptop and it works on the laptop just fine. Anyway, he said he'll come over either today or tomorrow to reformat it again so there goes my nightly blogging sessions. I could use the laptop but Mrs. Spiff also blogs and we don't really like waiting in line to use the computer. I'll just have to wait until the desktop is fixed.

At least I can get some reading done tonight. I've been catching up on my reading the past week or so and have already gone through 2 of my Star Trek books that I bought and am now half way into the third one already. And when I start reading, I'll be so engrossed in it that I can't stop. Guess that assignment I have on elliptical will also just have to wait till the PC is fixed in a day or two. Meanwhile tonight, if you guys want to know what I'm doing, it would be safe to say I'll be curled up in bed with my book, right after American Idol, that is. Yes, even us macho Spaceman type watches American Idol ... LOL!

No Shame Whatsoever!

I read this post Nessa did ab out a meme she got and I found it pretty interesting. She didn't tag anyone with it and since I'm a thick skinned little Spaceman, I thought I'd tag myself with it. Well, she did say that I could join in this meme if I wanted to, so stop looking at me that way! LOL!

It's a pretty simple meme, all I need to do is list 5 things each that I love or hate. And it's so simple I thought I'd even try to squeeze in my assignment on Alabama land for sale here as well. To be fair to them, here's a little bit on what it's all about. If you're interested in purchasing some land in the lovely state of Alabama, then Landflip is the site for you. They've got a host of land for you to chose from and it's pretty detailed as well. So, go check it out if you ever have the urge to pack it up and head to Alabama, k?

There, with that out of the way, I can get back to the meme and here is my list of loves and hates :D

I love :~
  • Sleeping
  • Eating
  • Family
  • Running
  • Blogging, what else :)
I hate :~
  • Liars
  • Rude people
  • Incompetent people
  • Suck ups
  • Inconsiderate drivers
  • Politicians
  • People talking away loudly on the cell phone while you're trying to have a decent dinner
  • Work!
  • Work!
  • Work!
'Urrrmmmm, Spiff, I think you're only supposed to list down 5 items.'

Huh? Is that so? Darn, I got a whole book full of hates left to list down ... oh well, I guess I'll save that for another meme I guess. Quick people, tag me with more meme's already ... LOL! And just like Nessa, I'm not going to tag anyone. Feel free to be thick skinned like me and do this meme if you like it. Ciao for now.

You Light Up My Life ...

After yesterday's hectic day where I was practically on the road for huge amounts of time, I'm pretty relieved to be having an easy day at the office today. Yesterday was one rush job after another and I had to drive to 3 different ends of this world to get things done. By the time I got home, my butt was so sore from all that sitting around and driving all day that I just kept walking around the house for an hour before I actually sat down ... LOL!

There's still 2 hours to go before work ends so anything could just crop up. In my line of work you just never know. Clients seem to have this uncanny knack for knowing when I'm free and just sitting around shaking legs. I'm also waiting for my computer guy to come send my PC back to me. I sent it to him last Friday to get it reformatted and it's already done (well, according to him anyway) and he said he would be here in the later part of the day. Well, he's got 2 hours left before I head home and he'd better get here before 6pm or there'll be hell to pay! LOL!

It was time that desktop got reformatted. There was so much junk in there the system was becoming totally unstable to the point, the CD-Rom stopped working and everytime I ran a little many programs simultaneously, the internal speaker would start wailing like a blooming ambulance! It can be damn bloody annoying when that happens in the still of the night, not to mention bad for my heart! LOL! The only thing I dislike about reformatting is loading up all my softwares again and downloading all my browsers again. I could use IE but I hate the damn thing, so it's Firefox or bust for me.

I hope he sends it back today though cos I need to work on this light fixtures assignment that I've put off for quite awhile now. Actually the site does look pretty cool. I'm checking it out right now and they've got some gorgeous indoor lighting systems. If you're looking for some new lights to brighten up your place, then by all means check out the site :D

Time Flies When You're Having Fun ...

Whao, the weekend just flew by so fast that Monday came up sneakily and bit me on my butt without even me knowing. Where does the time go. I don't even remember doing anything much over the weekend. It was like someone mind wiped me over the weekend or something.

I guess I was just having too much fun ... LOL! Yeah, I had fun over the weekend to the point that time took on a speed of its own. It's true what they say, that time flies when you're having fun. I seriously got to use that super duper high tech computer of mine and see if I can find a way to make time stop, or at least slow it down a little, especially during the weekends.

And I was so busy having fun, that I didn't even have the chance to log on much and post anything on both my blogs. Hey, a guys gotta have fun once in a while, right? The good thing (or is that a bad thing?) I don't have so many assignments waiting to be completed though I wouldn't have minded if there were. I hope my work flow in the office is manageable so that I can work on those little assignments that I have.

Gee, either somebody messed with my monitor or my eyesight is getting real bad cos the text suddenly seem so small. I think I'm going to need some magnifiers or something. Damn, I am getting old!

The Valentine Protocol

Ahhh ... Valentine's day is upon us. Have you planned that surprise for your loved ones yet? No? Not yet? What, are you crazy or something? Do you wanna sleep on the couch tonight? Well, there still might be some hope for you yet. There's still a little time for you to make a quick dash to the mall and get her something real fast or maybe even call up a restaurant and get some reservations for a candle light dinner with her tonight. Unless of course in some perverse way you enjoy sleeping on the couch, then there really is no hope for you at all! LOL!

Yeah, I think Valentine's day is too commercialized myself. No, no, I"m not sleeping on no couch. I was one of the smart ones. We spaceman are normally smart people anyway. I got Mrs Spiff her Valentine's gift way before today and saved on tons of money to boot ... hehehe ... told you I was smart, didn't I? So, while you're sleeping on that couch with your loved one sulking away in her room for not getting anything from you for Valentine's day just imagine me sleeping away cosily in my own bed ... hehehe ... And if you do get too bored alone on that couch, maybe you could use the money that you skimped on buying your loved one a gift to do some gambling at one of those online casino sites on the internet.

'But there are just so many gambling sites out there, Spiff. How would I know which one is good for me?'

What? You're actually going to do this? Ok, loser, I'll help you. For after all I am the mighty Spaceman Spiff, aren't I? If your loved one doesn't kill you by the end of the night, you can always try out this site called Online Casino List. They have a host of the best online casino's around the world that they do reviews on. They've actually played at thousands of these sites so they really do know what they're talking about, ok? And with their recommendations, you'll definitely stand a good chance of finding one you're happy with in a jiffy.

The moment you log into their site, you'll be able to see with a quick glance on their guides all the important features and information you will need to start playing successfully online. And not forgetting the best welcome bonus they have on offer. That's not all, the site is feature packed to help you chose you best online casino with such things as the best online casinos by player votes section where you will find how good the site is by actual players who have played on it. Now you simply cannot go wrong with that right?

So, while she sulks away in her room, get online and win some good money so you can go an buy her that diamond ring she was expecting for Valentine's okay? At least you'll be able to eventually sleep in your own bed again and life will be back to normal soon enough.

'What if I lose all my money?'

Then buddy, I think you'd better make that couch more comfortable cos you're going to be sleeping on it for a long time to come ... LOL!

Woman, Such Complicated Critters They Are!

I thought this was absolutely funny and oh so true ... LOL! Ok, now excuse me while I go hide from all the women out there ...

A Potty Tale

Darn it, my holiday is almost over. Tomorrow it's back to blasting Zorkian bugs again! Hmmm, that sounds like fun but then I heard those Zorkian bugs are still on holiday, so there goes that plan!

The day passed by real fast today. I started the day pretty early, well, early for a spaceman that is. I practically woke up at 6.20am to keep Mrs. Spiff company while she prepared the boys breakfast for school today. You can read all about that in my other blog, Anything Goes!

Didn't really do much today. Mrs Spiff and me went out after lunch today to do a little shopping. Seeing a how the boys were back to school, we could at least go on a little date ... hehehe ... We went to a nearby mall and bought a couple of things. I got myself two more Star Trek books ... woohoo ... I still haven't even finished the first of three books that I bought about 2 days ago. So now I've go 5 books to go through.

Well, we were also kinda looking around for cabinets and shelves for the kitchen. Right now, our kitchen isn't exactly the way we like it. The pots and pans are just about everywhere we can find place to put them and it doesn't really give the kitchen a professional and classy look.

We're actually looking for nice pot racks to hang all our pots and pans and I especially like the ones from Enclume (pronounced Ahn-Kloom) for the uninitiated. The Enclume pots racks come in a variety of classic designs of timeless old world or even of the contemporary kind. What I like about an Enclume pot rack is you can organize all your pots and pans in one single easy to reach place. No more stooping in some silly old shelve or cabinet to grab a pot when you need one. All that stooping and bending really isn't good for my poor old aching back!

Enclume Premier Classic Rectangle Pot Rack with Grid - Brass Plated

Besides, the Enclume potracks add a touch of style and elegance to the kitchen. I can at least showcase all our fine cookware for all to see and con everyone about my totally non existent cooking skills.

'What's that honey? We don't have no fine cookware? Darn!'

Well, it looks like before I get one of those cool looking Enclume pot racks, I'm going to have to get Mrs Spiff a nice set of fine and classy looking cookware first!

Mash, Smash, Hash ... Whatever!

About a month ago, that zany girl Nessa, sent me an email. As usual, I thought she was trying to ask me out ... LOL! But no such luck again. She sent me an invitation to join something called Hash Bush.

'Hash what?'

That's exactly what was going through my mind when I read her email. Just as I was about to hit the delete button, I spotted the words, get paid to play games ... now, wait a minute, get paid to play games? Whoa, that sure got my attention!

So, I checked it out and it's actually a new networking site in the veins of Friendster, MySpace, etc, etc. Though not as good as the rest of them, the part about being paid to play games puts them a little higher in my book ... hehehe ... So, I joined this Hash Bush thingy and started messing around with it. I noticed a few familiar blogging friends there too. Cool, at least I know a few people there ... hehehe ...

And ever since I've signed up I've been busily playing games and messing around with it. And so far I think I've made a whole 20 cents with it ... LOL! Ok, I know that's not much, but hey, it's 20 whole cents for just playing games ... hehehe ... I don't know, you guys check it out if you want to but I'm kinda intrigued with their games. Though very arcade like, it keeps me entertained for hours and I even managed to get a few high scores. It wasn't easy and my fingers and arms hurt like hell but I'm proud of my high score achievements, k?

And I also received my first Hash Bush gift. A T-shirt telling me I'm a Vain Pot by Nessa ... LOL! Thanks Nessa, now when I can I get the real version? If you guys have nothing better to do with life like me, then why don't you go check it out and see if suits you :) And please, for goodness sakes, add me if you do join ... LOL!

And totally out of topic here, I'm thinking of sending my kids for tuition, I'm not sure if that really is effective or not but I'm seriously thinking about it cos the 2 of them don't really study at all when they're home. What do you guys think? Maybe I'll check out this site called Tuition Wise and see what it's all about. Maybe I'll get some answers there and maybe I won't but it's worth a shot.

Tomatoes For Cash?

I've been using the internet for as long as I can remember and would you believe I haven't even uploaded any videos online? In fact I don't think I even know how to upload any videos online on those video sharing sites. Sad isn't it? With a name like Spiff, The Spaceman you'd expect me to know stuff like this. It's shameful indeed and I'll bet those Zorkian bugs are laughing themselves silly right now reading me admit this to the world.

'Just you wait till I get my trusty old ray gun and zap your behinds silly, you slimy dumb bugs!'

Well, today I aim to learn how to do that. Now, where do I even begin to start? I guess, first of all I'd need to look for a video sharing site, right? (Duh!). A quick look in my trusty new super duper high tech computer will show me a few I can look into. After a quick purr and whir from my trusty new super duper high tech computer, the results are out.

'Damn, that's a lot of video sharing sites out there'

Hmmm, now how am I going to pick one that's good for me. Decision, decisions, decisions and I'm just not at all good at making decisions! Ok, let me do this the professional way.

'Eeny Meeny Miny Moe ...'

Ah, so this one it is. It's called CashTomato.com, sure is a funny name for a video sharing site. I'd have thought they be selling vegetables or something instead of a web video sharing site ... LOL! But upon checking it out in more detail, it's actually a pretty cool video sharing site. It has weekly contests for it's users and offers cash and prizes too. Wow, you mean I can win stuff by sharing my videos online, now that is cool.

The next thing I need to do is go through all my private video stash and see what I can upload, right after I sign up with them though.

'Urrrmmmm Spiff, are you sure all your video stash are decent clean ones?'

Huh? Of course they are, what do you take me for? Some kind perverted Spaceman? Geez, get a life already you sick interloper you! Well, there is that video I took all those years ago of me and Jennifer Garner ... LOL!

Smile, You're On Candid Camera!

There I was about to start enjoying one of my new Star Trek novels that I bought this afternoon and I hear a knock on my door.

'Darn, who could that be now? Don't tell me it's a Zorkian bug out to get me!'

I put my book down and cautiously peek through the curtains, you can't be too safe you know. There's no one there, just an envelope on the floor right in front of my door.

'Hmmmm, this can't be good, maybe they're trying to get me to buy a franchise or something ...'

I grab my trusty old ray gun and slowly open the door, who knows, it could be a Zorkian trap. They tend to try this every so often just to irritate me. I peek out left and right and no one is in sight. I quickly grab the envelope and bolt the door shut.

'Phew, at least I don't have to blast no one to smithereens today!'

Opening the envelope, I see it's from Nessa of Mumblings. Now what does that girl want from me now? Maybe she wants a date with me. There seem to be no rest for us handsome spacemen ... LOL! But as I open the envelope and read what's inside, no such luck with that date with her! Drats, it's a meme. She tagged me with a meme! Double drats ... LOL!

Actually it's really a fun meme to do. In fact I think it's pretty simple. It's so simple that I decided to put my new Star Trek novel down and do this right away. Ok, the objective of this meme is to post any picture you can find of a smile. It can be a picture of yourself, a loved one, an animal, like what Nessa posted (a cute adorable little dog smiling, yes, a dog smiling, go check it out!) or even make up a picture of your own.

So, since I'm such a hunky spaceman, here's a pix of me with my best smile in my favourite underpants even! LOL! And before I go, I'd like to tag the following bloggers to show me their lovely smiles! Don't be shy now.

A Business Of My Own

I'm thinking of starting a little freelance business from home in my spare time. Nothing too difficult cos I do have a full time job as a Spaceman and also my other job in advertising. Maybe start of with something that I can handle for now. Something that's in my scope of expertise. I though maybe I'd offer my services (no, not that kind of services, you dirty minded people ... LOL!) to do some designing of simple business cards, wedding cards or some custom designs for anyone who needs stuff like that.

I was thinking of doing this online. Anyone who wants something done can email me what they want and I'll work out some designs for them and then once they confirm the designs I could just get it printed for them and courier it to them or something. Or if they prefer I could always email them the high resolution files and they could print it themselves. Payment could always be done through PayPal since I have an account with them. What do you think of that idea? You think it will work? You wanna be the first to buy my services (how many times do I have to keep telling you, it's not that kind of services ... LOL!).

Well, to be perfectly honest, I did dabble in my own business a long time ago buy gave it up cos of not having enough time, being too lazy and bad paymasters. It wasn't really all that hard starting up my own business, all I needed was a PC, a scanner and an inkjet printer with some spare inkjet cartridges and I was done. Those days inkjet printers were the in thing. I got myself this pretty expensive inkjet printer from Hewlett Packard and I remember those HP inkjet cartridges cost me quite a sum to buy back then unlike today where it's so much cheaper. I don't remember what the model was, I think it was a hp c6656an or something like that (or was that the cartridge model number?).

These days if you're really looking for an inkjet printer and needed replacement cartridges, you could always get online and check out this site call Carrot Ink which has a bizrate review that's averaging 100,000+. They're touted to be easy to use, have excellent on-time delivery services and great customer support. I guess if they had this back when I was running my own business, it would have made my life a lot easier when it came to consumables. That's why I'm thinking of starting my own business again.

So, anyone wants to start the ball rolling by letting me design your wedding cards? What? You're not getting married anytime soon? It's never too early to be ready, you know? Come on, I'll give you a discount even and if you get divorced before the year is up, I'll give you your money back ... LOL!

Brain Dead.

It really isn't easy having to maintain two blogs. Especially so when you run out of things to write about. It doesn't help when you also don't have a single assignment waiting in your in box. I do have loads of assignments but they're all for that Nick fellow's blog. Darn, he sure does get quite a bit doesn't he? Oh well, I'll just have to wait patiently and see if there's anything tomorrow.

I don't really like going without a post for more than a day maximum and I'll always (well, almost always) have something to write about. But today, after exhausting my brain power in my other blog, I'm all out of topics to write about. Maybe I'll be able to come up with something tomorrow. We'll see ...

Tomorrow, Mrs. Spiff, the kids and myself will be going out. We don't know where yet, but we're definitely not staying home, that's for sure. It's boring doing nothing at home all day. I'm supposed to meet up with my buddy the Genie King at our old banana leaf restaurant haunt for lunch and then maybe after lunch we'll head to some mall nearby and hang out for a bit. We'll just have to take the day as it comes by.

I'm going to head to bed now, so I'll catch you guys tomorrow ya? Have a good night and if you're not from my side of the world, then have a good morning :)

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Looks like the Chinese New Year has finally come. I can hear firecrackers in the background. Thank god I'm not asleep yet or I'll probably be cussing away right now ... LOL! No, seriously, I'm just kidding. After all what is the Chinese New Year without the firecrackers.

It's really great to be living in this multi racial country cos we get to celebrate everyone's festival together. So, to all my Chinese friends out there, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you a wonderful and prosperous Chinese New Year. Though I don't already qualify for those red packet ang pow thingys, but if you do wish to give me some, you won't see me complaining ... LOL!

I'm not sure what I'll be doing tomorrow cos I don't have any plans just yet. Mrs Spiff and me will probably make plans as the day goes by. We like to do these impromptu things and the roads are going to be empty, so it would be a good time to take a drive and visit places that on a normal day would be a little bothersome cos of the jams. If I do go somewhere, I'll let you guys know how it turned out :D

So, before I leave, once again, GONG XI FA CAI to my Chinese buddies!

A Lazy, Boring And Quiet Sunday ...

It's been a rather so-so Sunday. I even had to go back to work to get some stuff done. The day started with the usual sending the kids to Sunday school and waiting for them to finish. At least the church cafeteria had a much better breakfast offering this time round. It was so good that I even had second helpings ... LOL!

After the kids were done with Sunday school, I dropped Mrs. Spiff and the boys at home and headed to the office. I have a presentation for an Annual Report tomorrow and it wasn't completed yet so I had no choice but to get it done today cos the presentation is early morning and I don't think I have all that much time to get things done tomorrow.

That didn't take very long, thank god. I wanted to surprise Mrs. Spiff on the way home by getting her her favourite chocolate walnut brownie cos she was feeling a little low, but before I could do it, she text me and ask me to get some for her on my way back. So there went the surprise. Drats! And I even made a little card for her. Oh well, maybe I'll surprise her with something else the next time ... hehehe ...

That's basically how my day was like so far, pretty boring really. The weather also echoes both our moods cos it's been cloudy the whole day. I was thinking of doing this assignment I have on home insurance quotes but the ideas don't seem to be flowing all that much. Well, at least I have dinner to look forward to later. I'm in the mood for some good old banana leaf rice and I'm going to get some later tonight :D Hope you guys had a better Sunday than I did.

Everywhere But The Proper Place ...

My younger boy has this habit of leaving his things all over the place except where it's supposed to be. Everyday I keep telling him to hang his towel in the proper place and everyday he does just the opposite. And when he wants his towel, he'll look for it everywhere but at the proper place. This cartoon strip is just like him :D

A Change Of Scenery.

The other day during one of our tea time breaks in the office, a colleague and me where chatting and he expressed the desire to relocate. I asked him why? What was wrong with his current place? He said nothing, but that he's getting bored of living in this country. I was a little stunned by that remark though. I mean, I've lived here all my life and the thought of packing up and leaving this country for good has never ever crossed my mind.

I mean I know there are loads of things here that are screwed up but otherwise, it is a fine country to live in, well most of the time anyway. So, I asked him where he'd like to relocate to and he said he doesn't really know but he wouldn't mind moving to sunny Hawaii. Huh? Hawaii? Isn't that like the same as what we have here? Well, minus the volcanoes that is. He replied that the waves here are not that huge for him to go surfing. At this point I asked him if he was blooming drunk or something cos he can't even swim let alone surf!

Anyway, I told him if he really was serious about this, which he insist that he is, he'd need to find a real good Hawaii real estate agent to look for a place for him over there. I suppose Honolulu and Oahu would be a great place to relocate, especially Oahu which is also called The Gathering Place and is great for surfing. All he'd need to do is hook up with some Honolulu real estate agent or an Oahu real estate agent and he'd be all set for his new life. And I seriously think he was slightly delusional cos this guy can't live without his staple of local Malaysian food, just how in heaven's name was he going to relocate to Hawaii ... oh, well it takes all kind to make this world spin!

One Cool Act.

HDTV's, what can I say about them but that I absolutely want to own one for myself! I've been salivating over them every time I go shopping and see them displayed in the electrical and electronic section. But the most important thing that is holding me back is the cost of one of those things. I'd probably blow my whole months salary if I bought one.

But it's so cool to own one and one day I will own one so I thought why not look around and see if I can find something online where maybe, just maybe I could get it cheaper. Then I remember that I'd read something about this company called Second Act on one of Nessa's postings quite sometime back. She mentioned something about (if I recall correctly) that they sell cheap HDTV's for brands such as Sharp, Samsung, Toshiba, Denon, Marantz and many more.

So, I did me some checking around and found out that they do indeed sell pretty affordable stuff. In fact, they mentioned that if they sell a product, it's most likely the lowest cost product on the internet. Now, that is saying a lot :D They sell products that are mostly factory refurbished, factory closeouts, end-of-life, open box, overstocks and more which is why they can sell their products at a lower price than their competitors.

On top of that Second Act also has something called the Great Deal of the day that gives you even more discounts for a single item for a 24 hour period. And this deal changes daily and 7am cst. This is making the possibility of me owning a HDTV in the near future sound all the more promising. I'm going to dig deeper into this site and see what else they have. And hopefully by the time I'm done, I can give you guy the good news that I'm getting a new HDTV :D

Domain Registration Problems

Remember a couple of months ago, I was complaining about having some huge problems with our company domain provider? Well, we did finally figure out how to get it sorted out. Just to recap a little. Our domain expired with this particular company and we decided not to renew our subscription cos they were really a pretty lousy domain provider. And they were not very cheap either.

Since we decided not to renew the domain and we did find a new provider at a much better rate and with even more benefits, we called up the old provider and asked for all our passwords and stuff so we could configure our new domain and they refused to give us the passwords and stuff. Without the passwords we could transfer our domain details to the new provider and all our emails and website were totally offline. And even with threats of taking legal action against them which was really pointless as the legal fees would ave cost more than the domain itself!

So, to cut a long story short we registered a new company domain and got it up and running. No issues with that but informing all our clients and suppliers of our new addresses and stuff was a pain. Which really brings me to this point. Always make sure that the domain provider is professional set up before you sign up for a
domain name registration. You really don't want to have to go through the hassle I did when we wanted to do domain transfer of our company account.
Always look around and find out what your domain provider can do for you and don't just pick any old Tom, Dick or Harry out there. There, I've warned you guys, now don't make the same mistake I did ... LOL!
