The Cisco Kid

You know, after doing my Cisco posting a little earlier just now, I couldn't help but go and do some research on The Cisco Kid. While I watched this show during the 70's, I discovered that it actually first saw the light of day as a short story created by someone named O. Henry way back in 1907.

There were also numerous movies made about the Cisco Kid begining from the silent film era, then to radio in the 40's and finally to television in the 50's. They also had a version done in the 90's with Jimmy Smits playing the lead role of Cisco and Cheech Marin playing Pancho. Strangely enough, I don't remember seeing that version.

Anyway, I'll bet you a dollar that most of you would probably go, 'The Cisco Kid? Who the freaking hell is that?' and I wouldn't blame you one bit cos only old fogeys like me would probably remember the show ... LOL! And no prize for guessing which one is Cisco and which one is Pancho.

Hey Cisco, Hey Pancho ...

Has any of you ever heard of the Cisco kid? It was a western series way back from the 70's I think. Well, that was when I first watched it anyway. I think it was created way before the 70's though. Back then, westerns were the in-thing.

It was about this two do-gooders called Cisco and Pancho, played by Duncan Renaldo (Cisco) and Leo Carrillo (Panch0). Cisco was a bit dandily dressed in his finely embroidered shirts and silver spurs with a giant sombrero and Pancho was the ever lovable sidekick with a terrible grasp of the English language that was used to maximize the laughs.

I'll bet you guys probably haven't heard of this show. Even when I was telling Mrs. Spiff about it, she thought I was making it all up ... LOL! I'll bet you remember this show don't you, Adrian? It was a pretty neat show that I never missed. I wish they would bring back those good old days of the wild west.

Anyway, that wasn't really what I wanted to tell you a guys about. We've all heard about loads of networking sites, right? But have you heard about one for IT Professionals? A social learning network where you can enhance your IT career? Where you can browse for technical content and share insights, opinions and knowledge with the community? No? Well, then you've just come to the right place :D

The Cisco Learning Network is basically a place to do just that! If you're one of those nerdy little IT people and have some baffling IT problems that you just can't quite put your finger on, fear not cos with the Cisco network you compare notes with anyone on the network who just may have the solution to your problems. That's like IT haven for you IT nerds, right? LOL!

What's more, they offer various training and Cisco certification programs that you can take up to further enhance your career and help you get some great promotions and various other cool opportunities out there which can be translated into more money for you later.

Anyway, I'm not really all that IT savvy but I suppose if your really want to break into the IT business and need to keep up to date with the latest changes and inventions, then go ahead and sign up as a member and get connected with all those other IT guys and gals out there. If you're serious about advancing your IT career, this would be the best option :D

Rainy Days And Mondays ...

Monday has struck again. I always knew Monday's just hated my guts and I've not been proven wrong till this very day. I think in my previous life I must have done something really bad on a Monday!

There I was this morning on the way to work. All of a sudden, I feel the car pull to the left.

'Oh no!' I said

I knew what that meant. It could only mean that I had a puncture. And upon stopping the car at the side of the road, I was right. It was indeed a puncture. Not really a big problem you would say, well, WRONG! Cos recently I had another puncture and was already using my spare tire and didn't get around the fixing the other one.

So there I am now left with no spare tire and stuck at the side of the road looking like an idiot. The only good thing is there was a Shell station opposite the road and it had a service centre which wasn't opened yet. At least that's a good sign.

The moment it opened, I ran across to get some help from the mechanic and after about 20 minutes or so, I was finally on my way to work totally sweaty and all that. At least it happened right in front of a service station. Imagine if I was in the middle of the highway with no spare. I immediately went to fix my spare tire cos I don't want to be caught without one again. All I'm asking is:

'WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH, MONDAY? WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?'

A Lazy Hazy Sunday

It's only 11.40am over here and so far it's been a lazy Sunday morning so far. We missed church and Sunday school cos the air conditioning on my car isn't working. And driving around in it with all four of us is not a comfortable sight. So Mrs. Spiff and me decided to give church a miss. I know it's not a good excuse god and I'll make it up to you next week :D

We woke up pretty late, well me actually. Mrs. Spiff was up earlier than me and was surfing. She let me sleep in late, at least until our younger boy started his usual, 'Mommy, I'm hungry, can you hear my stomach growling, what's for breakfast' rant. And that was the end of my staying in bed sleeping.

Woke up, took my bath and headed out to the stall just down the road to get some breakfast, which consisted of a typical Malaysia spread of Nasi Lemak with beef rendang, some Roti Canai and a couple of dumplings. Then headed home to feed that 'starving' little fellow.

I don't have any plans today cos I'm not intending to be driving around with no air conditioning and until I get that fixed next week, we'll be spending more time at home :D We do have to go get some groceries later this evening though. Our fridge is totally empty and I mean totally. And we have no choice but to get some grocery shopping done this evening. We'll wait until the sun goes down before we head out to the hypermarket.

I do need to get some snack food also cos tonight they're showing Spider Man 3 and I'm definitely going to be glued to my TV screen savouring every single moment of it :D I'm a huge Spider Man fan, ah heck, I'm a huge superhero fan and shows like these drive me wild with joy ... hehehe ...

Ok, I think since I have nothing to do after posting this, I'll go take a look at that leaky bar faucets in the kitchen that Mrs. Spiff has been asking me to do something about for ages already. I'd better go get it done or she's going to take away the keys to my rocket ship or worse yet, she'll take the TV remote control away and I won't be able to watch Spider Man!

Inspector Gadget

I'm thinking of getting a new cell phone for myself. No, nothing is wrong with it. I'm just bored with it at the moment. I have this bad habit of wanting to change my cell every now and then. I'm a slave to technology. I must have the latest in gadgets out there though half the time I can't afford them ... LOL! I've always been like this when it comes to technology. After all, I'm not called Spaceman Spiff just for the heck of it you know.

Mrs. Spiff: 'Urrmm, honey, you're called Spaceman Spiff cos you're as mischievous as that Spiff fellow!'

Well, ok, that too ... hehehe ... But I've always had this fascination with gadgets. I'm always lurking around forums that deal with technology and trying to keep up to date with the latest they have out here. And even my best buddy would seek my opinions whenever he wants to get some new gadget for himself cos he knows I'll probably know at least something about the gadget.

There have even been times where I actually bought gadgets just cos it was cool and not cos it was functional or anything .. LOL! After a while I would end up not using it and it'll just lie in my drawer at home somewhere gathering dust.

But that was all back in the times when I was a little more richer than I am today. With all things costing a lot more these days, my days of buying things on a whim are gone. These days I actually think very hard before I even buy bread, let alone gadgets! I'm a lot more prudent with my money. Even my cards are not used all that much these days. In fact I'm looking to change my card provider to one of those offering a 0% credit card balance transfers package out there and safe me a little bit more on interest.

But the wisest move would be to keep a check on my spending. And that really hurts cos there are a few gadgets out there that I've taken a keen interest in. I wonder if I send an email of my wish list to Santa he'll consider at least three or four of them. What? You think that's asking for too much? Ok, ok, how about just two then? LOL!

Some Pretty Useless Stuff To Know

I'm bored so I dug up some pretty useless facts that would not make an ounce of difference whether you knew them or not :D Enjoy.

315 entries in Webster’s 1996 dictionary were misspelled.
I wouldn't know, I never checked.

Orcas (killer whales) kill sharks by torpedoing up into the shark’s stomach from underneath, causing the shark to explode.

Wow, awesome. I really hope that's true :D

While in Alcatraz, Al Capone was inmate #85.

Urmmm okayyyy ... like I needed to know that.

Beetles taste like apples, wasps like pine nuts and worms like fried bacon.
Well, there you have it folks. Alternate food that can save you some money.

Right handed people live on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.
Phewwww, thank god I'm right handed :D

In the weightlessness of space a frozen pea will explode if it comes in contact with Peps.

And they know this how?

It's possible to lead a cow upstairs ... but not downstairs.
Did someone actually try this?

Thirty-five percent of the people who use personal ads for dating are already married.
Oh, I'm sure this is true!

Snails can sleep for 3 years without eating.
In my next life I wanna be a snail :D

111,111,111 x 111,111,111, = 12,345,678,987,654,321.
I wouldn't know. My calculator doesn't have that many numbers!

And with that I hope I've able to at least waste a few minutes of your time reading some really useless facts ... LOL! Here's wishing you all a great weekend!

What's The Date?

I'm ashamed to admit this but back when I was still single which was years ago I actually checked out dating sites and even signed myself up for a few (*Blush*). Hey, I was curious back then and the internet was still a new toy to me. This dating sites were like a novelty back then. And there wasn't really all that much dating sites back then to begin with anyway. Besides I think everyone of you would have checked out some dating sites at least once in your lifetime, right? Come on, admit it already ... LOL!

These days, there are quite a bit of them online (not that I've been checking mind you ... LOL!) and with some offering Niche Dating Sites. The percentage of internet users that are single, divorced and some just plain downright naughty (LOL!) looking for love are pretty significantly high and with SinglesCash.com you can find some pretty good specialized online dating sites that would suit you every taste and interest.

With their wealth of Online Dating Affiliate programs you won't be disappointed in what they have to offer. Go ahead, check out their site and if you're single or even divorced, I'm sure you'll find a pretty good soul mate. But if you're married and still looking, then shame on you ... LOL!

Attention!

I've been told that I have a very limited attention span and I do tend to agree with them. I easily get bored of things very fast. My best buddy can attest to that. I'll be excited about something one day and then would totally lose interest in it the next.

I've always been like this ever since I was a kid. It would take something totally out of this world to keep me interested in something for a long time. Well, blogging is the exception to the rule la ... LOL! I'm even surprised that I haven't already lost interest in blogging. Oh and of course you too Mrs. Spiff, I just can't ever get bored of you :D You da best!

That was why I was kinda interested in this quiz I came across. It's called 'How's Your Attention Span?' and it's kind accurate that it amazes me. Here's the outcome of my quiz.

Your Attention Span is Medium

Your attention span is just about average.

You may think that you have a short attention span...

But being distracted is something most people struggle with.

The most important thing is that you're aware that your mind wanders.

If you find yourself daydreaming, you can usually snap out of it.

It may be tough to concentrate at times, but you can do it... if you want to!

A Gnome That Blings!

I used to be a crazy computer game addict. I would spend hours sitting and playing games till the wee hours of the morning. And then I'd get up go to work, come home and do the game playing routine all over again. And if I liked a particular game I was playing, which was always the case (why would I be playing it if I didn't like it?) I'd want to finish it in as fast a time as I can.

I love the genre of real time strategy games (RTS) the most. I've played practically every RTS game that has ever been produced back then. Some of them were horrible but I still bought them. I mean afterall, the games were pretty 'cheap' around these parts back then (if you know what I mean ... hehehe ...). I didn't care if they were good or not, I'd buy them anyway.

I was so fanatical about games that I'd actually do loads of research on them and join forums and stuff. My partner in crime was my best buddy Adrian with whom I would cruise the malls looking for new games and then we'd discuss them all day long after playing them. Yes, we were like geeks back then ... LOL!

But these days I don't really have all that much time to sit and plays game anymore. Half the time if I'm on the computer I'll be blogging away ... hehehe ... But recently I came across this MMROPG game called Dungeon Runner, an online video game where you get a magical sidekick called a Bling Gnome that eats any unwanted item and turns them into gold. Wish that could happen in real life! Anyway, this sidekick of yours is pretty helpful and gives you loads of points too.

And to celebrate the release, a 'Pimp Your Gnome' contest is being organized where you can create your own little fancy creation for your gnome. And not forgetting the fame that comes with winning ... LOL! Here's a little tip on how to WIN. First, go buy a gnome from any store out there, then dress him up with whatever materials such as a pimp hat, your diomond studded earing, any of your jewelry, etc to bring out the bling in him or you could simply dress yourself up as a gnome :D

But you must take some pictures of your pimped up gnome from at least 2 angles. And you get extra points if you post pictures with people admiring your gnome or even you dressed as a gnome in public places like a mall or something. I'll bet if I dressed myself as a gnome and headed to the malls here, I'd probably be arrested and put in the loony bin or something ... LOL!

I was intrigued by it so I downloaded the game to try it out. I found it pretty cool, no really, I'm not just saying that. The game has some incredibly wonderful graphics and effects that will leave you pretty impressed with it. Don't believe me? Then go purchase or subscribe to Dungeon Runners. In fact, you can go and download the free game and try it out first cos I can still see that skeptical look in your eyes. And it's really kinda funny too cos those blinged gnomes (is there even such a word as blinged?) look pretty hip hop following your character in a post apocalyptic scenario.

And remember if you do go and check it out and actually take part in the contest and end up winning, send some of your loot my way, k? LOL!

The Season Finale ...

Darn, Tonight is the season finale of one of my favourite shows and I didn't even realize it. It only seems like yesterday that they were showing CSI and now it's the finale tonight! And taking over this spot next week is none other that Mr. Macho, no not me (LOL) but Horatio Caine and his bunch of CSI Misfits!

Don't get me wrong, I like CSI but somehow CSI Miami is not on my list of favourites. I watch it and all that but I'd much rather they show something else. Horatio Caine just gets on my nerves with his crooked neck look ... LOL! But then, knowing me, I'd still watch it anyway since there would be nothing else on TV to watch anyway.

Yeah, that's what I do these days. Stay home and watch TV at nights. Gone are the days when I would be going out gallivanting around town. Besides it's just too darn expensive to be going out too much either so TV is my best form of entertainment these days. Well, not forgetting blogging that is ... hehehe ...

Anyways, I hope you guys had a great Wednesday cos mine was utterly boring to the max!

The Spaceman And His Halloween Costume!

Would you believe that to this very day, I've never celebrated Halloween? No, seriously, I haven't. We didn't really celebrate Halloween back when I was growing up in this country so no fancy adult halloween costumes for me. It's only of late that Halloween has kinda gained a little momentum over here.

It's something I would really love to experience for once in my lifetime but I'd probably be arrested if I were to prance around in my neighbourhood dressed in some fancy Halloween costume. Imagine me dressed as a bounty hunter walking around the neighbour. I'm sure the neighbours would call the cops on me! LOL!

Maybe I should go around the neighbourhood and try to organize a Halloween celebration this year. I'm sure the kids would get a kick out of it. I know I would. Halloween is basically a joyous occasion and what could be better than dressing up as some evil monster or even pirate (which is another of my favourites, besides a spaceman of course).

And I would know just the place I could recommend to my neighbours if they wanted to get some Halloween costumes. And it would be none other than Costumecauldron.com cos they offer some of the most extensive list of costumes available for you to chose from that you just might find it difficult making up your mind :D And their costumes are pretty affordable too.

But seriously though. I would really love to experience Halloween at least once. I know I sound like a kid but hey, you really can't blame me right? I've never ever celebrated one. Pathetic, I know but what to do? I was born in a country that is not really into Halloween. I really must go speak with our neighbourhood committee and see if they're up to something like this or not. I mean it would be cool if the whole neighbourhood participated in it, right?

I'd probably be the oldest kid on the block running from house to house trick or treating all night and seeing how big a bag of candies I'd end up with ... LOL! And I'm sure I'd end up enjoying myself silly!

A So-So Day ...

It's Monday and so far it has been a pretty boring day. The weekend was okay, nothing really much to shout about. We didn't really go anywhere cos that would have cost quite a bit. With the way prices are out there, we'll be spending more quality time at home. So it was more of staying home all day and doing the household chores.

The chores were done by noon and then Mrs. Spiff and me decided to clean up and rearrange the boys room. It looked like a war zone in there. Gosh, boys can be a real handful when it comes to getting them to clean their rooms up after them. And my two boys are no exception.

But I'm an exception cos as a kid growing up, I made sure my room was neat and tidy. I hate seeing the place all dirty. I was and still am a cleanliness freak. I can't stand seeing the place dirty for too long. Even now, I'll always still be grumbling at the boys to pick this up, put that back, arrange that nicely and all that. Sometimes I think I even get on Mrs. Spiff's nerves with all my grumbling ... LOL!

But what to do, getting old already so grumble more la ... hahaha ... It's only 2.20pm right now and I'm yawning away non stop. I wonder why? I slept at a respectable hour last night so I shouldn't be this sleepy but I am. I guess it must be because I don't have any appointments today and sitting in the office all day can get pretty boring, especially when all your work are done.

I could go and do an assignment I have waiting for me on my personal blog but I'm too lazy to even think about what to write. Anyway there's still sometime before it's due. I just can't wait to go home though. That's like 3 hours more ... sighhh ... I think I'll go do some blog hopping now. See you guys in a bit. I hope you're all having a better and much more action packed and fun filled Monday that I am.

Grace Anthony!

I used to complain to Mrs. Spiff that TV wise, Saturday's are absolutely boring days. There really wasn't anything interesting to watch at all at nights. The movies they show are pathetic, the series they had are even more pathetic. The documentaries are just reruns after reruns.

The only thing we had to look forward to was Discovery Channels Dirty jobs with Mike Rowe. We just love that show. And then when it was over, they'd be nothing else worth watching. That was the past. Yesterday, the latest season of Grey's Anatomy started again and it's followed by the new Grey's spin off, Private Practice. And my Saturday nights are filled again ... LOL!

I didn't even know it was going to be on yesterday, luckily I read about it in the papers and immediately ran upstairs to Mrs. Spiff to give her the good news. We're both huge fans of Grey and we even went out and got snacks to munch on while watching the show ... LOL! We were both a little disappointed with Private Practice though. I know its got good reviews and all that but somehow it just didn't click with us.

We're really fussy about some of the shows we watch in terms of the cast and all that. And so far the cast of Private Practice, aside from Kate Walsh (Dr. Addison Montgomery) just didn't cut it for us. Maybe we'll give it a couple of episodes and see how it goes from there. But as for Grey's Anatomy or as my younger boy called it, Grace Anthony (LOL), that show is something we both can't get enough of :D

Like I said, Saturday nights are not going to be the same again for us. And yes, we know that it's pathetic that we get excited about watching TV on a Saturday night but hey, we've both gone way past those partying days ... LOL! Happy Sunday folks, now I've got to get down to finishing this thing on term life that is just about due.

Those Irritating Bob The Builders!

I would think that with the current increase of everything people would be a little more prudent with their money and all that. But it seems some people have loads of money to spend. Oh how I envy them. There's a couple of houses in the row I'm living in that are renovating their houses at the moment. And it's some pretty major renovations that are going on.

Now, while I don't really care what people do with the loads of money they have (I'd care if they gave some to me) but what really irks me is that here I am trying to spend a nice quiet Saturday afternoon at home and I hear construction work sounds causing a huge din that makes the neighbourhood sound like a war zone! I've no issues with them working and I know there's bound to be loud construction sounds when people work but on a Saturday afternoon? Come on already, give a guy a break.

I know some people consider Saturdays half working days but at least stop work at 1.00pm like everyone else and let some peace fall upon the neighborhood. I don't want to spend my whole Saturday hearing drills, hammers pounding, cement being mixed and all that throughout the day and I know these people are going to work till late evening. I've had loads of experience when my Neanderthal neighbour was renovating his house.

I had to put up with noise for close to 3 whole months even on Saturdays and Sundays! Just imagine trying to take a nice afternoon nap and you hear thunderous thumping of hammer drills being activated. I'm sure it's actually illegal to be working and disturbing the peace of a residential neighborhood on weekends but I'm not sure who or where to go to get a stop notices order so I can get them to at least not do work on weekends.

I wonder if I'm the only grouch in the neighborhood who's irritated by the sounds of construction work going on on a weekend? I suppose I got to put up with it for at least a few months but at least I can take some solace that the work is not going on right next to my house. I sympathize with their immediate neighbors, I can imagine the racket they're going to have to put up with.

She Blinded Me With Science ...

Do you remember back in your secondary school days during science lessons? I've always been intrigued by science. Well, I guess that would explain my science fiction tendencies and this desire I have to be a spaceman :D I always couldn't wait for science lessons to start, especially when we were required to go to the science lad.

I'd be the first in line and would gleefully rub my hands together looking like some mad scientist the moment I got in there. And I would always enjoy whatever the science teacher had in store for us to experiment with. In fact I think she knew I loved science that she was always calling on me to show the class the results of my experiments ... hehehe ...

The truth of the matter is, I loved being in the lab cos they had such cool looking science gadgets that I could mess around with and one of my favourites was the hot plates. I just loved heating up things on it. And no, I didn't blow up the science lab or anything. As much as I hated studying, I did love my science lessons.

But it really doesn't compare to some of the equipment they have in science labs these days. I've seen some in my sons school labs and now they actually have a programmable lab hot plate! Imagine the things I could have created back then if they did have such an item :D

Maybe I should go buy myself one of those amateur science kits and start experimenting with it or something. Who knows, maybe I could create a clone of myself just like what Calvin does and send my clone to work while I stay home and laze the day away ... LOL!

No Idea For A Title ...

Darn, I can't find anymore tags or meme's. I know I have a few but I can't remember who tagged me already. I should really write them down so I won't forget and it'll be easy to find when I need them at times like this. The good thing about getting so many assignments is the money. The bad thing is having to figure out what to write as an in-between post.

I may be a big mouth and have tons of stories to tell but sometimes even big mouths like me go brain dead ... hehehe ... Imagine, everytime I do an assignment, I have to think of atleast two more personal posts and I don't really like posting just for the sake of posting. I like my posts to be relevant with at least something that my life.

But sometimes I just have no choice cos there really is only so much I can talk about myself. Besides that Nick fellow is in charge of the blabbering department. Us macho and good looking spacemen don't gossip all that much. Well, maybe that once or twice in that laid back sleazy bar of Zorktown ... hehehe ...

Woohoo, it's raining out there. I'm so going to enjoy this. I love the rain especially when it's been such a blistering day out there. There's even thunder. Cool! My only worry is the reception might just get buggy cos I'm using a wireless broadband connect here in the office. In fact I'm using the same wireless connection at home too and I know Mrs. Spiff won't be online, especially when there's thunder and lightning.

We have this rule to not surf when it's raining too heavy and when there's thunder and lightning. We'd rather be safe than sorry. Anyway, that's all from me for now. I'm going to log off and make myself a nice steaming cup of hot coffee and enjoy this wonderful weather :D

I'm In Love With A Vacuum Cleaner!

You know I can't get enough of the Dirt Devil cordless vacuum cleaner that I wrote about in one of my posts. After writing that post, I went and did a little research on it cos I was really intrigued by it.

Besides I need a new vacuum cleaner anyway. The one that I have is on the verge of giving up on life. The darn cable can't be reeled in and it doesn't suck as well as it used to. I don't blame it cos I've had that vacuum cleaner for quite a while now. It's really time to get a new one.

And the Dirt Devil seems to be the perfect replacement for it. Not only is it cool and sleek looking, just like my rocket ship but it's also cordless. Now that is a real big plus point for me. I hate having to fight with the wires and searching for power outlets to plug in the conventional type of vacuums. And sometimes I even need an extension, especially when I'm outside vacuuming the insides of my car, urrmm, I mean rocket ship.

With the cordless one not only will I not have to find my extension cables just to get it to reach all the way out but it's also going to save me some mighty expensive electricity bills. That's cos this sleek mean sucking machine uses 70% less energy and has earned the Energy Star as the first cordless cleaning technology around town. Now if that isn't cool, I don't know what is. Well, maybe after my rocket ship, that is ... LOL!

And it comes in both the hand or stick version at a very affordable price of $104.98 for both! If that isn't a good offer once again, I don't know what is. All I know is I'm definitely going to get me at least one of it for now. As far as I'm concerned nothing beats an AccuCharge Cordless Vacuum Cleaner!

An Eye For An Eye ...

Ok, I know for a fact that bum Nick stole a tag that was meant for me so I'm going to do the same thing to him and steal this tag that was meant for him! Serves the bum right. It's a good thing I didn't go and blast him to Timbuktoo and back with my ray gun.

In fact, this isn't even a tag I stole. It's an award given to him by Molly, a recent new blogging friend of his. Darn, that bum gets more visitors than I do. The award that he got was called 'I'm a daily blogger' and yeah, that bum is a daily blogger. I don't think he can go one day without visiting his beloved blog! LOL!

Anyway, on his behalf, I'd like to thank Molly for the recognition she has given him as a daily blogger. I don't even think he remembers receiving the award so I'm sure he won't miss it all that much. Besides, I seriously and desperately need an in-between post right now ... LOL!

In fact I still need one more so after posting this, I need to go steal, urrrmmm, I mean find more tags or awards. and if you do feel the need to tag anyone, tag me please! I promise I'll do them right away ... hehehe ...

Anyway, I'm going to award this to the following people as well. Go on, enjoy your daily blogger awards cos I know you guys at least check your blogs once a day, minimum ... hehehe ...

Blur Ting ~ Nessa ~ Jen ~ Shemah ~ Carol

Oh, and you can get the actual award image from Molly's blog :)

Space, The Final Frontier, Desktop Space That Is ...

I've always wanted one of those super cool and thin LCD flat panel monitors for myself. Right now, I have this huge bulky 17" monitor and they take up quite a bit of space on my table leaving me with hardly any real estate space to do anything else.

Besides it doesn't speak well for a macho and high tech spaceman like me to be owning a huge old fashioned bulky monitor, right? But then, those LCD flat panel monitors can be pretty steep in price. But they're so sleek, thin and lightweight that I could spend hours sitting at my desk and surfing the night away ... hehehe ...

Imagine the amount of real estate space I'd have on my desk. I could even get one of those computer monitor arm thingy's and mount the LCD flat panel monitor on it for even better space utilization. And I know that Ergoware.com offers a pretty wide range of mounting options, accessories and various finishes to chose from that would match almost all kinds of working environments.

In fact, it would make me feel so much more comfortable during my game, urrmm, work sessions ... hehehe ... Anyways, if you're looking for decent, affordable and reliable monitor arms, then go check them out. my favourite is the Ergo-Comfort flat panel monitor arm model :D

How Old Am I?

I was filling out an application form this morning and when it came to the age section I had to stop and think for awhile. Now, while I'm 41 years old in true fact but sometimes I do behave like a 10 year old ... LOL! Even Mrs. Spiff thinks I act too childish at times.

But then I love being a child. Don't get me wrong, I can be serious if I have to but I'd rather behave like a kid all the time. After all kids don't have no worries right? That's why when I came across this little quiz about 'what age do you act?', I had to just try it out and here's what age I supposedly act, which is sort of true in a way ... LOL!

You Act Like You Are 26 Years Old

You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel like an adult, and you're optimistic about life.

You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

You're still figuring out your place in the world and how you want your life to shape up.

The world is full of possibilities, and you can't wait to explore many of them.
.

You Bring Out The Devil In Me ...

Life sure is getting more difficult by the day. Just recently there was a huge hike in the price of fuel over here and that is indirectly going to affect all other businesses. Then, like as if that wasn't really enough, there's going to be a price hike in electricity tariffs begining next month.

Just how do they expect people like me to make ends meet? I mean energy is something that I use on a daily basis at home. Come to think of it, a lot if not all thing I use at home depends on energy and with the increase in tariff starting from next month, I'm going to have to think of way to actually cut down our energy usage at home.

Actually that's going to be a hard thing to do really. I'm a cleanliness freak and am forever cleaning up the place and perpetually vacuuming the room and living area and that uses a lot of electricity. I can't very well stop cleaning the place altogether just to save energy right?

That's why when I heard of Dirt Devil , I was hooting for joy! Ok, all you lazy bums who don't clean your place is probably going to say,

'Just what in heavens name is a Dirt Devil?'

Well, if it were up to me, I would make you go and check out the site yourself and figure it out for yourself, but since I'm such a nice spaceman, I'll tell you ... hehehe ... Well, Dirt Devil is the new AccuCharge Stick Vac (and that's short for vacuum in case you didn't know!) that uses a whopping 70%, yes, folks, 70% less energy! And that's a huge saving which has made AccuCharge the first cordless cleaning technology to earn the prestigious Energy Star approval!

And it does look pretty cool and high tech too. It would make a great addition to the gadgets I already have in my rocket ship too ... hehehe ... And the fact that it's cordless makes it even better. I can actually vacuum at places where a regular cord type vacuum wouldn't be able to go or where there is no power outlet. Gosh, the more I talk about it, the more I want it. Now, please excuse me while I go convince Mrs. Spiff on the benefits of owning an AccuCharge Dirt Devil cordless vacuum cleaner that saves energy to boot! How can she say no to that?

Me And My Diet

It's been slightly more than two months since I've been on my diet and I'm glad to say that it's been pretty successful. For one, I don't have a tummy anymore, it's still there but it's way firmer now ... hehehe ... that should help not put too much of stress on my rocket ship when lifting off!

Secondly, I've totally weaned myself off eating rice. Last month I only ate rice for dinner for only four times. And trust me, that is a big achievement from me. I'm a rice bucket and I cant go without at least one rice meal a day. And it took everything I had to hang on to my diet of not touching rice.

Initially it was really hard to even cope without rice. I felt hungry all the while and half the time I felt weak but slowly my system got used to it and I was actually able to not crave for rice anymore. In fact when and if I did eat rice, I actually couldn't finish it. I'm really happy with myself :D

This is really the first time I've actually gone on a diet plan for so long. Normally it doesn't last for more than 2-3 days even. My regular menu for dinner now consist of either stir fried chicken which I will make into sandwiches or boiled chicken which I will shred and also make into sandwiches. Yeah, it's basically chicken for dinner most nights ... hehehe ...

I'm hoping that I can keep this up forever cos I feel so much healthier already. And I'm also enjoying my new role in the kitchen. I normally come home from work and make my own dinner cos I want it prepared just the way I like it. And I owe this all to Mrs. Spiff cos she was the one who taught me how to cook my own dinner and I've perfected it to a tee now :D Now if only she'll trust my cooking enough to actually try some ... LOL!

Bad Moods And Bills

The past couple of days, well since last week really, I haven't been at ease with myself. That thing that was bugging me, which I wrote about in my other blog didn't really go away. And I still don't know what it is that is really getting on my nerves.

Though on the outside I may look and sound like my normal crazy self, there is that something at the back of my brain that I can't quite reach to figure out what exactly it is that is bugging me. But if I were to make a guess, I'd probably say that it has something to do with the rising cost of things, yes I know everyone has been talking about it and I'd shouldn't be repeating what everyone is writing about.

But hey, can you blame me? The good old postman came yesterday and he had nothing but bills and statements for me. Can't he for once send me a letter telling me I won a few million dollars or something? That would make life cool, wouldn't it? Instead, I get bills, bills and more bills!

And you know, the amount of paper they use just for my credit card statement alone is such a sheer waste. I mean, they've got all kinds of rubbish in there that is absolutely useless. All I'm interested in is how much I have to pay them at the end of the month. I'm not interested in all their other promotions about buying this and that. Like as if I didn't owe them enough already! And the amount of trees they could save if they reduced their paper usage.

I'm sure all of you with credit cards know what I'm talking about right? When you get your statement in the mail it's like one thick envelope full of paper telling you this and that which half the time you don't even bother to read. Like I said, all I'm interested in is how much I have to pay back!

And speaking of paying back, I just noticed the interest they're charging me for my credit card. It's exorbitant! I'm seriously thinking of switching credit card companies. I know of a few that are offering much better interest rates out there.

And if I do a check online for some new credit card companies I'd probably find loads that offer some pretty good rates. In fact, one of the best offers available online these days are the balance transfer credit cards which are getting more popular cos you essentially save quite a bit by transfering your debt from one card to another.

Maybe I should really look into this and I'm told that CreditCardBest.com offer some of the best balance transfer credit card deals from some leading card issuing companies such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and more. I guess it can't hurt checking them out, ya? Who knows with the money I save on my current exorbitant interest rates, I could probably afford to buy an extra apple or two on my next grocery shopping spree ... LOL!

The Portuguese In Me ...

There are so many places in this world that I would like to go for a visit. And one that is high on my list is Portugal. Why Portugal, you say? Well, why not? It's a cool place and besides I do have Portuguese blood in me from my mom's side. It would be cool going for a visit and checking out my 'home' country ... LOL!

My mom is of Portuguese decent that dates back to the time when the Portuguese invaded Malacca and all that. If you asked me they should have just kept Malacca to themselves but unfortunately, then came those Dutch fellows and invaded Malacca from them instead. In fact a long time ago my mom even used to live there for a while during her childhood days. I was born here in KL and have totally lost whatever roots there is connecting me with my Portuguese kinfolk in Malacca. In fact I don't even know if we have any more relatives at all there.

The very tradition of being a Portuguese family is slowly dying away. I mean, I can't even speak a single Portuguese word though back when they were alive, my grandparents could speak it fluently and they would always revert to the Portuguese when they didn't want us to know what it is they were talking about. The only 3 or 4 Portuguese words I know are deemed too filthy to publish here ... LOL!

I'm a full fledged Malaysian but being of mixed blood and falling under the race of Eurasian puts me under the category of 'others' when it comes to filling in official documents here. It's really pathetic to be under the 'others' category. Makes us sound like low class citizens! But that's the way it's been over here for as long as I can remember anyway.

That is why one of my fondest wishes is to actually visit Portugal one of these day. I'd love to visit the city of Lisbon which is situated where the River Targus meets the Atlantic Ocean and can be considered the westernmost capital of Europe. It's so full of history and heritage and was naturally a target for the likes of numerous conquests by the Greeks, Romans and The Moors. And it wouldn't be hard finding some Lisbon Hotels to bunk in while I'm there.

Another place I would like to visit would be Glasgow in Scotland. I've always love Scotland and the way the people there speak with that accent of theirs. I've only ever seen Glasgow on TV with it's combination of ancient structures, modern architecture and host some of the best festivities that you’ll find in the UK and it would be such a thrill to actually book some nice and affordable Glasgow hotels and spend a few weeks there.

But alas with the current hike in fuel prices, the only place overseas that I could probably afford and I stress the word probably here, is a trip to Penang or something. I'm sure I could find some really dinghy and cheap Penang hotels that could probably, again I stress probably, work on the budget that I have ... LOL!

Old Is Gold Or So They Say ...

Age is really catching up with me very fast. The European Championships is going on right now and I'm not even following it. It's not that I don't like football. Come on, I'm a guy and all guys like football (oh and that's soccer to your Americans ... LOL). I've never heard of a guy who doesn't like football.

What? You have? You've actually heard of a guy who doesn't like football? And you still call him a guy? LOL! Ok, back to the topic at hand. As I was saying, the Euro Championships are on and I haven't caught a single live match yet! It's being shown round 2-3am in this here parts and it's way too late (or is that early?) for me.

Back up to only a couple of years ago, I could stay up late and would stay up late just to watch the games. But then I was also way younger back then. Now, if I can make it past 10.30pm, it's like a miracle or something ... hehehe ... told you I was getting old. There are times when I can even doze off on the couch!

When I was young, I used to wonder how can anyone just doze off in the middle of a show on the couch cos my grandpa did that quite a bit. I couldn't fathom the logic. And now that it's actually happening to me, well, all I can say is blame it on old age ... hahaha ...

I get sleepy so much early than only 2-3 years ago. In fact, to be honest I'm actually sleepy just writing this post in the office. What is wrong with me. I didn't sleep all that late last night. I guess the older you get, the earlier you'll want to sleep and worse yet, you'll actually be getting up way earlier too! (Oh, Horrors!) Why is it that old people get up so darn early?

I can always here my Neanderthal neighbour getting up at 6.00am every blooming morning and washing his porch. Don't old people sleep in? Is that what's going to happen to me? I'm going to get up at 6.00 (worse still, even earlier!) and wash my porch every morning?!!! OHMYGOD, I don't want to grow old ... sob, sob, sob! Somebody invent the fountain of youth or something. Please, please, pretty please?

Ultraman & The High Defininition LCD TV ...

My younger boy came up to me yesterday and asked if we could get a new tv, an lcd tv at that. And when I asked him what for, he says the tv that we have right now is so old fashioned, huge and totally bulky! And furthermore he said, it would make watching Ultraman all the more enjoyable.

What does he think? Like as if money grows on trees, that would be nice though if they did actually grow on trees ... LOL! But then, he's got a point too. The TV we have is kinda old and bulky and the sound isn't exactly state-of-the-art. We normally have to crank up the volume way up just to be able to hear what's being said on TV. And lets not even talk about the super low definition colours it has ...

I was actually at one time thinking of getting a new tv but after the recent fuel hike, that's not on my list of priorities at the moment. As long as we can still see the darn screen and hear what being shown, it's fine by me. But it would be great if one day I could actually afford one of those super duper cool looking lcd tv's but until then Ultraman is just going to have to battle it out with those monsters on that bulky tv ... LOL!

A Book, My Kingdom For A Book!

I need new books! I'm seriously getting fed up of rereading (which I am doing now for about the 200th million time) my old Star Trek books. I'm starved for some new reading material but I'm just too lazy to go out and get some. Besides, petrol is too expensive to waste just to drive out and look for books ... LOL!

I really can't remember the last time I actually bought a book for myself. I think it was when PayLess Books was closing down a couple of months ago. I remember going there at least 3 times to buy those second hand books which they were selling at 50% off. And I remember buying a handful of them. All Star Trek books of course ... :D But they did close much sooner than they advertised cos I went back for a fourth visit and they were gone. Darn those cheats!

Right now, I'm recycling a couple of Star Trek books. I'm in this current Star Trek phase right now but it can be boring reading something which I've just read a few months back, not to mention a few zillion times at that. I can practically remember the story word for word! But what to do. That's what you get when you're too lazy and also too cheapskate to want to go out and buy new books.

Maybe I should just go read some books online. Afterall I know a few good places to get free ebooks but somehow it just isn't the same as having a book in your hand, with a nice packet of nuts and a tall mug of orange juice while reclining in bed and reading. Ahhh, now that's the life ....

The Gift.

My other best buddy is having his baby's baptism tomorrow followed by a lunch reception at one of the hotels in the city. And right now I'm having a tough time figuring out what to get for him. Yes, I know it's tomorrow but he only informed me on Wednesday so you can't blame me for leaving it to the last minute like I always do.

Mrs. Spiff and me went out during lunch to one of the nearby malls to see if we could get something and we did see a few baby stuff but they were all kinda sub standard things that we ended up not getting anything. I mean if it was for some not very close friend or anything, then I wouldn't really care much about the quality. But this is one of my best buddies so a little more effort and quality is needed ... hehehe ...

Well, we're going to another mall to see if we can find something by tonight. Actually we MUST find something by tonight cos we don't have time tomorrow. The baptism is around 12.00pm and then the lunch and that doesn't leave us much time to do any shopping for gifts tomorrow. So, I'd better find something nice later today or I'm doomed!

On top of that I have this piece that I need to work on. How I'm going to figure out what to write for something called Hilton Head rental, I have absolutely no idea. One step at a time Spiff, one step at a time ... Hope you all have a great weekend. And my days as a boss is coming to end on Monday cos my boss will be back ... horayyyy, don't need to be responsible anymore :)

The Colour Of My Mind ...

I'm feeling a little blur today. The mind isn't working and I just feel like sleeping. Now, I'm not sick or anything. I'm just lazy and when I'm lazy my mind doesn't work too well ... LOL! So at times like these I like to just browse around the internet doing random quizzes and stuff and I found this to be perfect for me right now.

It's a little quiz, well not exactly but you answer a few questions and they tell you what colour your mind is. Well, mine happens to be orange. God, I hate that colour. Anyway, here's what it says about the colour of my mind.

Your Mind is Orange

Of all the mind types, yours is the quickest.

You are usually thinking a mile a minute, and you could be thinking about anything at all.

Your thoughts are often scattered and random - but they're also a lot of fun!

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about esoteric subjects, the meaning of life, and pop culture.

Time To Get Lost!

Lately I've been reading about USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight that's due to be released on the 1st of June. Well, that's about 5 days ago. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to see that show anytime soon over here. But seeing as how it's been getting a lot of buzz online, I thought I'd go do some research and see just what it's all about.

What I found out is that the show is about this woman called Mary Shannon whose job is to protect witnesses that are in danger simply because they just know a little too much. She and her partner Marshall Mann helps these witnesses establish new lives for themselves. Sure sound like a cool show worth catching, doesn't it?

It's basically a crime TV drama but with another aspect to it that delves on Mary's love possibilities which is her partner Marshall (Now, why am I not surprised ... LOL) After all he is kind of an intellectual guy who places priority on his career track and knows a little bit about practically everything.

He sounds like an ex-colleague I had at my office. This guy just knew everything there was to know about anything out there. You could ask him anything and he would always know some little trivia or such about whatever it was you were asking him ... LOL! It amazed me considerably how he knew just about everything.

Anyways, back to 'In Plain Sight'. It does sound like an interesting show but I'm fussy with the kind of shows that I watch and for me, the most important thing about a new series is the cast. I've seen many a show where the lead characters just didn't cut it at all. I'm hoping that 'In Plain Sight' will be a great series to watch and hopefully they'll bring it over here soon cos currently there really isn't anything interesting worth watching on TV.

So, whoever is in charge of TV programming and stuff like that over, please go get us the series soon so we won't be too left behind with the rest if the world!

Birth Dates And All That ...

Ok, when you get tons of assignments dumped on when you least expect it, then you're probably going to need some in betweeners. And Short of begging for more tags which Dora has happily decided to add me to her tag list (LOL), these bits of urmmm, I don't know what you call them do come in handy for times such as these ... hehehe ...

I found this one pretty interesting and no, it's not my birthday or anything like that but if you feel the need to give me a present, then go right on ahead, you won't find me complaining ... :D Below is what my birth date is supposed to mean, though I don't know just how true these things really are but I'll take it with a pinch of salt :D

A Mailbox With Attitude!

Every morning before I leave for work, I'll always give my car a couple of minutes warming up time while I drink my coffee (which I must have or I'll be a grouch all morning) and check the mailbox to see if there's any letters or junk in it.

And this morning when I checked my mailbox, I found a few bills and letters in there and they were totally soaked! It has been raining consistently every evening for the past coupe of days and the mailboxes here just aren't built well enough to keep them really waterproof. In fact, the mailboxes in this country are so bland and just doesn't have soul.

'Now, why would anyone want a mailbox with soul, Spiff?'

And why not? Have you taken a look at our mailboxes? They're just plonked as part of the entrance structure and not given anymore thought, just like mine at home. And most times when it rains, my letters and bills get totally drenched. I don't know about the rest of you guys but mine does.

I actually like the mailboxes I see overseas. I've seen some pretty creative ones and they all have a certain soul and character to them. Take a look at some of the pictures of those mailboxes below. Now aren't they gorgeous? And don't they have a certain character to it? Doesn't it make you wanna check your mail every hour and I don't mean the one in your PC, ok ... LOL!

Unfortunately, they don't even have any companies here specializing in mailboxes at all unlike overseas where you can find companies like Seattleluxe.com for example, that specializes in all kinds of mailboxes for both residential and commercial uses. There are so many that you can choose from and if you don't find one that you like, you can have it custom built to your specifications. Cool eh?

Maybe I should consider making a mailbox with attitude for myself. Something that would give an indication of what kind of person lives in the house. And since I'm a spaceman and all that, maybe a nice rocket ship mailbox. What do you think? Is that attitude enough for a mailbox? LOL!

A Visit To The Clinic.

Well, I finally did go see a doctor in the end and as expected she gave me her usual routine about trying this new medicine and that new medicine which I always end up saying I'll think about it and never actually get any of the stuff she tries to sell me ... LOL!

Actually I wonder if they are allowed to sell stuff in a clinic. Oh well, I guess in times like these you really can't blame a person for wanting to get some extra money. Afterall I do the same thing with all these assignments that I do over here. It's really getting more difficult by the day to make ends meet.

But it's a good thing I decided to actually go to the clinic cos I managed to recover all that much faster this time round. The only thing that's still bugging me is a slight cough. The cough will take a little while to actually go a way completely. It does feel good to be back on the road to good health. It really sucks being sick.

I'm also glad to report that my diet has some pretty good improvements and I have lost that tummy that I always had issues with ... hehehe ... This is really the longest I've ever stuck on a diet and actually enjoying it considerably. Hopefully I'll be nice and lean pretty soon :D

That Sickly Feeling ...

I'm feeling a little wee bit under the weather. I was fine this afternoon but somewhere along the later part of the evening, I started feeling a little cold in the office. Then my throat started hurting and a slight cough starts followed by aches in every single part of my joints. That's a sure sign that I'm going to fall sick!

I hate falling sick (who does anyway). It weakens me to the point of not being able to do anything at all. My appetite is going to suffer. I think it already has. All the food I had for dinner was totally tasteless even though Mrs. Spiff said it was kinda salty. I'll probably need to visit our company doctor tomorrow and even then Mrs. Spiff is going to have to nag at me at least 5 times minimum before I even make the effort to actually go to the clinic.

Another thing I hate about falling sick is having to visit the doctors. In the past I have just endured the illness without going to the clinic but these days, in my old age, my body can't take the strain of enduring the illness for too long. I know eventually I'd visit the darn doctor for medicine and she'll start with her usual, 'next time wait longer before you come in' speech! Such smart mouthed doctors our company has.

In fact I won't be surprised she'll start her speech about me under going a medical check up (I haven't been for one in ages) to check if I had high blood pressure or even diabetes. She just loves giving advise about diabetes. I think she actually gets a commission for selling diabetic medication ... LOL!

I mean come on Doc, I know for a fact I don't have diabetes and even if I did, I could just look it up in RD.com - Managing Diabetes, the Reader's Digest online site. I'm sure there's lot of tips and stuff for someone actually suffering from diabetes to learn about the basics of this disease and how to keep your blood sugar level in check.

I even checked the site out and found some pretty cool diabetes friendly recipes such as seared tuna and bean salad, hearty bran muffins, sugar free chocolate mousse and even bulgur wheat pilaf. Then there's also the stay fit plan with loads of exercise for someone suffering from diabetes to try out. And I can get all that for free. Unlike what you would charge me for a check up, well, charge my company really.

Ok, enough of me blabbering incoherently over here. I'm feeling even worse right now and I'd better hit the sack or Mrs. Spiff is going to be breathing down my neck for me to go get some rest soon. I seriously hope I can sleep this off and be back to my normal self tomorrow morning but judging from the worsening aches I feel, I seriously doubt it!

These Life Saving In Betweens ...

Oh man, it's been a crazy day for me today, blog wise that is. I was only this morning complaining to Mrs. Spiff that I didn't have anymore assignments to do. I'm always complaining to her about this and suddenly today I get dumped with a whole load of them!

I'm not complaining mind you. The more assignments the merrier cos then I get more money for me to spend ... LOL! But the thing is I've got to complete these assignments in 12 hours time and on top of that I have to figure out some in between posts as well.

These are times when those tags come in really handy ... hahaha ... and coincidently I was just tagged by Nessa only yesterday. Phewwww ... for once in my life I'm actually glad to have a tag to do :D It takes a lot of pressure out of having to figure out what to do as an interim post for these assignments. But the fact that I have two blogs and these assignments are for both blogs as well, so the amount of in betweens have to be doubled.

So, please people, for gods sake, tag me, tag me, tag me! LOL! I must be losing it. I'm actually begging for tags. Thank god for this 7 song meme from Nessa right now. This meme is basically about listing the 7 songs that I'm into right now. It doesn't matter what genre, whether they have words or even if they're good or not. They just have to be songs that you're really enjoying right now. All you need to do is list them down and then tag 7 other people to see what's on their list.

Ok, now since that Nick fellow and me are actually one and the same. What? You didn't know that? What planet have you been living on? LOL! My song list and his are going to be the exact same. Now come on, you didn't really expect me to figure out 7 more songs now did you? So, here is my list of list songs that's going to shape my spring and all that :D

1. Hello (the David Cook version of course)
2. Aku Stacy (Stacy from AF6)
3. Aspalela (Saiful Apek ... LOL)
4. Bob the Builder (does that count?)
5. 4 Minutes (Strange as it may seem for me, I actually dig this song)
6. The Star Trek theme song (hey, I just saw the movie again on TV on Saturday)
7. Wonderful Tonight (heard it on the radio on the way back from lunch)

But I'm not going to tag anyone though cos I know all of you have already been tagged by someone or other so I'll spare you guys for now :D

Here Comes The Rain Again ...

Gosh it's raining cats and dogs out there that I hope by the time I finish writing this post, my internet connection would still be available. I'm using a wireless broadband connection and it does work just fine except when it rains as bad as this.

There's some crazy thunder and lightning display going on out there and when that happens, the service will be definitely be down for a couple of hours. Darn and I do have some stuff to be done that needs internet connection. Oh well, one can only hope ...

And another thing that's going to happen when it rains like this is there is going to be some major flooding in the city. Yes, you heard right, some major flooding in the city. It never fails to happen. Whenever we have rain like this (and judging by the sound and intensity I'm hearing out there) there's bound to be flash floods happening in the city. We have some pretty bad drainage problems going on over there.

I hope the rain subsides soon. Don't get me wrong. I love the rain but not when I'm at work. I'd rather be home right now snugly tucked under my comforters and snoozing away. That's what a sane person would do on a rainy day like this. Besides it also floods just a few hundred metres outside my office and I don't want to be stranded here when it comes time to head home.

Mrs. Spiff and me are supposed to go out later after work and this rain is not going to help at all. I hate driving and going out in the rain but we've run out of grocery and need to get some stuff later or we'll all be starving at home tomorrow ... LOL! Another thing I'm dreading about going out shopping today is the fact that it's the beginning of the month and our favourite hypermarket is going to be packed with people buying groceries too.

We normally do our shopping during office hours but I was a little tied up today with some work and the shopping can't wait till tomorrow. I dread thinking of having to stand in line at the checkout counter waiting to pay. And most of these people would be using their Master Card to pay for their groceries which will add up to the waiting time ... sigghhhhh ...

But then I can't really blame them. I'd probably be using my card to make payments too. I mean, why not right? Besides everybody probably already owns a credit card or two and with the many online deals you can find from Master Card out there that has no annual fees, low interest rates and balance transfer credit facilities, why wouldn't anyone want to apply for one. I know I would if I didn't already own one.

Maybe I should apply for a new one, get online compare the many great online offers to see if I could get some better deals for my credit cards. In fact with AllAboutCredit.net, you can find a wide array of cards issued for all sorts of payment histories irrespective of whether you have a fair, bad or even no credit rating at all. and if you do have a spotless payment history, you can even apply for a Platinum MasterCard online with instant approval!

What do you know. The rain has stopped :D I can only hear distant sounds of thunder so that's a good sign. At least our grocery shopping session is still on for tonight :D

Reality Sucks

The days are never going to be the same again. Most of my favourite reality shows are finished with their current seasons, the English Premier League has ended and there really is nothing on TV for me to watch anymore. The weekday nights are just not the same anymore without American Idol and Akademi Fantasia.

For the past 10 weeks or so, both me and Mrs. Spiff have been glued to the TV from 8.30pm till about 10.30pm watching the Akademi Fantasia diary every single day with Saturday being the concert weekend and in between, there was American Idol on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There was also the English Premier League that kept me entertained and now that all that has ended for the season, my weekdays are empty ... boo hoo hoo ...

Well, the only consolation is that the local version of So You Think You Can Dance season 2 starts the weekly live eliminations from next week. The auditions have all been completed with the top twenty all picked and raring to go. I don't have a favourite yet but we'll see if anyone impresses me as the weeks go by. Then there's Ganstarz, but that doesn't impress me much, so the only thing I'll have to look forward to is So You Think You Can Dance on Thursdays every week.

Darn, there's a message popping up on my screen saying I need more laptop memory. What the heck? First of all, I'm not even using a laptop at the moment. And secondly, the laptop has more than enough memory anyway! I think this desktop secretly aspires to be a laptop!

One Towel Too Many ...

I was just helping Mrs. Spiff out with the laundry just now and only today realized she uses a heck of a lot of towels when she takes takes her bath than all the rest of us combined at home. At least 60% more towels than us ... LOL!

The boys and me each use only one towel each when we take our baths but Mrs. Spiff goes through four, yes FOUR towels during bath time! She has one for her head, one for her body, one for her legs and one more I have no idea what for ... LOL! She beats the three of us hands down.

Well, at least I know that if we were to open up a chain of cheap hotels or something, I won't be short of towels to provide for my customers ... LOL!
