When Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

I was at the post office this afternoon for some transactions and as usual, seeing as how it was around lunch time and also the beginning of the month, the place was packed with people. No issues for me cos I expected it to be packed anyway. My queue number was 2219 and seeing as how they were only calling number 2178 I had a long way to go.

So I armed myself with the newspapers, picked a quiet spot outside on one of the chairs to wait my turn. This post office in situated in a hypermarket and there were a lot of chairs outside the post office which is really a very small one and can't accomodate everyone inside.

So, there I was sitting happily for once and not complaining about having to wait so long when this guy comes and sits a few chairs away from me, chatting loudly on his cell, lights up a cigarette and starts puffing away oblivious to the people around him, some of them being small little children.

That was when I got pissed! I don't smoke, never have and never will and I've got nothing against smokers, urrmmm, well I actually do, but I don't care if they smoke all day and kill themselves but please be considerate of the people around you.

Everyone around this guy started closing their noses and things like that and this guy didn't even get the message. He just kept on happily puffing away while chatting loudly on his stupid cell phone. And to top it all off he was blowing smoke right into the bunch of people sitting there.

Now, that was when I really lost it. I took the papers I was reading and fanned the smoke back in his direction and pinched my nose and when he looked at me, I gave him this 'you want me to slap you' stare and pointed at the no smoking sign. I wasn't the only one though. A few others were also giving him the stare and I guess he was intimidated enough that he go up and walk to the other side and continued puffing away and irritating the life of the people on the other side with his second hand cigarette smoke.

Sigghhhh, some people just don't get it do they? Why oh why do people have to smoke and be so freaking inconsiderate to the others around them who don't. Both Mrs. Spiff and me really can't stand cigarette smoke and we've more than a few occassions during lunch picked up our food and shifted to different tables cos some inconsiderate moron next to us decides to light up. In a restaurant at that!

Besides, smoking can give you acne and then you're probably going to need some acne treatment just to get rid of all that acne on your face. You wouldn't want people to be calling you all kinds of names now would you? LOL! Anyway, besides that little incident, I've had a pretty decent day so far. I hope you're all having an easy day, just like am :D Two days to go till the weekend ... hehehe ...
