The school officially opens tomorrow and the roads are going to be packed silly with cars. I've been enjoying the relatively easy traffic flow for the past 7 weeks because of the school holidays but come tomorrow, it's back to the daily grind of bumper to bumper traffic.
And it's going to hit me even more cos I'm really not used to it. For the past three years or so, my travel time to work was just a short 5 minutes drive away since my office was so near to where I live. But the new place where I work is pretty far away and on a normal day without traffic it takes just a little under half an hour to reach but with the added cars on the road from Monday, god only knows how long it's going to to take me to get to the office!
Like I said, I'm really not used to fighting my way through traffic to get to work so it's going to take a little while for me to get used to it. If I ever get used to it that is. Maybe I could just use my rocket ship to fly to work ... LOL! That would sure solve the traffic problem for me.
Anyway, as I was saying, school opens tomorrow and I'm glad that the kids stuff were all bought way in advance. I can imagine those last minute shoppers rushing to the malls to get their kids school stuff at the various 'Back To School' sale promos that are still being offered at most malls. I'll bet it's a madhouse out there.
I only have to go to their schools tomorrow morning with wifey. We have to split the duties cos both boys study at different schools and we need to pay their school fees (which for the life of me I cannot understand why cos education here is free ... well supposedly anyway) and also pick up their books and stuff.
I've taken a couple of hours off from work to get this done. This is something we have to do every year so it's pretty routine. It's also fun watching the new parents running around aimlessly like chickens without heads sorting out their kids first day of school ... LOL! Not an easy task I tell you cos I've been through it. All the best to them anyway.
