Since you all enjoyed my previously stupid question post about why do rappers grab their crotches, I thought I'd throw you guys another really stupid question. You all did enjoy the last stupid question post, right? Right? Riiigghhhhttt??? And the question that I have that perplexes me for today is:
Why do people have to shake an egg first before they purchase it?
I'm really stumped by this. Does it make any difference if you shake it first before buying the darn eggs? A couple of days ago, when Mrs. Spiff and me were at Tesco (yes Anny, I was at Tesco and no one tripped me ... LOL!), we saw so many people at the egg section shaking the eggs to their ears before actually buying them. Some were even worse, they smelled the eggs (yucks! do they know just where those egss came from?).
I thought it strange, maybe they knew something I didn't so I took an egg and shook it and listened to it but alas, I couldn't figure out what their secret was. So, somebody please tell me the rationale of shaking an egg before purchasing it or I'm going to go insane. You guys wouldn't want an insane spaceman hounding your blogs now, do you?
Hmm shaking of eggs? You see, most people like scrambled eggs, and before they buy it, they wanna make sure if the eggs weren't scrambled to begin with, hence the egg-shaking process. I'd like my scrambled eggs from unscrambled eggs as scrambled scrambled eggs make it redundant and unenjoyable.
ReplyDeleteSekian Terima Kasih.
Smelling of the eggs? Its easy, it all boils down to the question, which came first, the chicken or the egg? By smelling the egg, you're doing your research and you'll learn more about the evolution of egg, but its worthless, since you'll never get the answer to the age-old question anyways.
ReplyDeleteSekian Terima Kasih
Bem - From now on buddy, you have been bestowed with a new title. Professor Kelentong, phd, mba, jpj, pdrm, fbi, csi, mpsa ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteI just LOL reading all your answer la. No one can top you la buddy!
Professor Kelentong, I think the darn chicken came first la, but not that I have any proof for that mind you. In fact, I shall now make that my long life quest to go figure which one came first. Anyone know where I can get a live chicken for interrogation? LOL!
ReplyDeleteOn and the Sekian Terima Kasih is a howler la ... hahaha ...
Professor Kelentong? hahaha is that my new title now? Glad you like it, I amaze myself sometimes. And the Sekian Terima Kasih thing is a telltale sign when I'm in my Professor Kelentong character.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to bold your reply ah heheh. Observant saya ni bang.
Do you mean you don't shake them eggs before you buy them.. oooooOOOOOOOOOOOoooo...
ReplyDeleteThe reason ppl shake them eggs before they buy them eggs is beeeeeeeeecos... *ahem*
ReplyDeleteto check the sound..
1) if you get a kruggg-krugg sound.. means.. u have a healthy egg
but..
2) if you get a tiny "tweet tweet" sound... you gotta put them back quickly.. and scoot.. cos you might be getting chickens instead of eggs..
And the reason these ppl are smelling them eggs is beeeeecos..
ReplyDeletethey just wanna check the scent of them eggs.. and get the bird flu as well as some remnants of feathers up them noses.. :D
oh ya.. Sekian Bertimokasih too :)
ReplyDeleteAiyah, dis spaceman ah... 1st the crotch now them eggs... just where are you heading?? LOL!
ReplyDeleteI never shake them eggs when I buy... I just look only. If big, masuk bakul, if small tak mau.

ReplyDeleteBem - Yup, it's your new title cos you kelentong so darn well la ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat you talking about? I did bold my replies :D
Anny - No la, who in their right frame of mind would shake the eggs dulu? LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnny - ROFTL at your second answer ... tweet, tweet sound ... hahaha ... if got tweet tweet sound I'm definitely not going to take those eggs ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnny - Hahaha ... the scent of them. They must love the smell of tahi ayam ... hahaha!
ReplyDeleteAnny - LOL! Now you got the Bem 'sekian terima kasih' disease too ...
ReplyDeleteNessa - Hahaha ... yeah, first it was the crotch, then the eggs, I wonder what next too ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteTu la, that's the same thing I do. I don't shake them and most definitely don't smell them ... LOL!
Anny - Now that's a first I've heard? I thought big egg means the chicken that laid it was a fat chicken ... LOL!
ReplyDeletelol, Bem dapat title Prof Kelentong!
ReplyDeletei never shake eggs before i buy; i just grab a tray and head to the pay counter...but this question of yours makes me think....
ReplyDeletemaybe la...just maybe...people shake eggs because they want to hear whether there's a chick inside. if ada bunyi 'chirp, chirp' from inside, they would probably put it back or lodge an animal-cruelty complain to the authority.
seriously :P
eh sama a bit with anny's explanation..takpe lah hor
ReplyDeleteAnd oh they cium the egg first becoz they want to get rid of the perfume smell they tested at the perfume counter. Besides coffee bean, chicken poop's work.
ReplyDeleteEmila - With an answer like what he gave me, he rightfully deserves the Professor title la ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteEmila - Animal cruelt? Hahaha ... really ah? They will really report them to the animal cruelty? Gee, now I have to shake all the eggs first before I buy them from now on ... if you see one mad fellow with stripes in Tesco shaking all the eggs, that'll be me ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteEmila - Takpe, we all fren fren. Can curi answer one ... hehehe ...
ReplyDeleteEmila - Hahaha! Now I know what to do the next time when those pesky perfume sales people spray perfume all over me. Just cium telur ayam je ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteI never do that. I don't know why ppl shake the egg though...those silly fellas must be checking whether there's a yolk inside?! Duh...hehehhe. Of course there's gonna be an egg yolk in the egg.
ReplyDeleteBtw, what's the answer to the crotch grabbing rapper?
Mei Teng - Can you actually hear the yolk move ah? I tried listening to it and I couldn't hear anything at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for the answer to that question la ... LOL!
If I don't get the answer, then I shall zap you into an egg yolk...hahhha :)
ReplyDeleteTo shake or not to shake them eggs.. tat is the holey question now... :D
ReplyDeleteto choose a pretty good egg... is to choose the blurry ones.. hahhahahaa.. u know.. blurry ones ah.. and dun ask me why the blurry ones..
ReplyDeleteshake the eggg, first time I know about this, I never shake it haha..
ReplyDeletesmell the egg? gosh.. you know where the egg coming out from? so far not seen anyone that smell the egg. haha.. my son will throw the egg. yeah once!! he threw it to see what happened to egg.
ReplyDeletegosh.. i've never come across ppl shaking eggs before purchase! strange.. maybe to see if tthe eggs have turned into chicks inside or still liquid?
ReplyDeleteblimey!
i never ever forever shaking the eggs when I grocery....
ReplyDeletemaybe lah...some people did it because they wanted to know whether ada anak ayam or no anak ayam inside the egg...haha
hmmm actually since u mention this, i'm also curious i have no idea why ppl do that. and the crotch grabbing i find it super duper annoying. they prolly just like their package being grab even if its their own hands.
ReplyDeleteMei Teng - Hahaha ... Zap me into an egg yolk ... oh man, I think it's time I go harass someone for an answer la ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnny - I need an answer or Mei Teng is gonna zap me into an egg yolk! Help!!! LOL!
