Buzz, Buzz, Buzz ...

I was busy editing a picture just now and this fly kept on buzzing around me. And no funny remarks about me being smelly ... LOL! It was one of those huge flies you always see whenever you buy prawns or fish.

Now, there were three people including me in the room which was Mrs. Spiff and pebbles and yet that blasted fly kept on buzzing around me. I mean, I know I didn't take my bath yet but I can't be that smelly, at least I think so la.

So there I was cursing and shooing the fly away while trying to edit a picture, it can really be annoying you know, but no amount of shooing worked. So I grabbed the can of Ridsect and started spraying the blasted thing. But still no luck.

Then Mrs. Spiff looks at me and says,

'Oi Spaceman, why don't you ask it to go away nicely'

I give her this 'whatcha talkin' bout, Willis' look and she says,

'You try la, maybe it's one of your dead grandparents come back to visit you'

Urmmm, I don't think so cos my grandmother comes back as a dragonfly and my grandfather, well, he and I were never on good terms, comes back as a cockroach just to terrify me cos I'm terrified of cockroaches.

Ok, before you go on about just what the heck I'm talking about, in our religion, there is this belief that the departed will come back on the 7th day as an animal, insect or something just to say goodbye and true enough, on the 7th day of my grandmothers death a dragonfly came by and buzzed all around me (I was grandma's pet) and on the 7th day of my grandfathers death, a cockroach came to terrorize me ... LOL! Really, it did!

Don't look at me though, I'm not the one who made up that belief, it was passed down from generations to generations and how true it really is, I have no freaking idea. All I know is that blasted fly was really getting annoying. So, with nothing to lose, I looked at the fly and in the most polite voice I could muster, I said,

'Mr. Fly, would you please go away and leave me alone'

Now, I've seen some strange things happen but what happened next was beyond strange cos the blasted fly actually flew away and left me alone!!! I was speechless. It just goes to show, one should never discount Mrs. Spiff and her wise knowing ways ... hehehe ... And it also goes to show how much you can achieve by being polite. Yes, even to flies!
